Does anyone remember Mary Teresa johnson (Tess/Tessa) please? She would have been in the home in the 1950s. We know that she attended Cotteridge School in 1958. She is my hubbie's sister, and we have been searching for her for 8 years. The family were split up in 1950. Thankyou. She would be 66 now.

Hello,

Interested to read your comments. I was in the Cosham Cottage Home in about 1953/54 but cannot remember too much, (probably blotted it out for a reason). Seem to remeber one of the buildings was called The Bungalow? (or am I getting confused with Cottage?) Was only about 4 or 5 years old at the time. Likewise, not good memories. Anyone remember much about the place in that era? Am trying to put the foggy jigsaw together. Thanks
My mother and her two sisters were in Ponteland Cottage Homes following the death of both their parents within a very short time of each other. The youngest sister was only a baby and I think was somewhere else until she was two years old. I would like to know where. Their. names were Miriam,Lily and Louisa Hay The house mother was called Miss Marr and my mother and her sister seemed quie fond of her in later lifebut it seems. My aunt was able to obtain her NNEB qualification when or before she left.
Hi I was In Cosham childrens cottage homes in the early 1950s along with my Brother and Sisters not an enjoyable stay
Hi, I work in Cottage 4 at the Fazakerley Cottage Homes in Liverpool. the site closed as an orphanage many years ago but still has an active ex residents group who have a re-union in June every year, this years is the 16th June. The site has recently been sold for re-development by Urban Splash who plan to turn all of the cottages into family homes. Before this happens we are trying to contact as many people as possible who have links with the site, either as residents,a family member or who worked here to get their memories of their time here before the site changes irrevocably. We are doing a project to ensure these memories are saved and plan to do this in a range of ways, primarily in art form, either written, sung, danced or acted. Please contact us if you can help. Thanks....

Hello
I have been told I was placed in a cottage home at Staincliffe dewsbury around 1941-1944. I was 3 when adopted.
Does any body know any thing about the homes or remember me Angela Mary Bentley as I was then?
Would love to hear from you.

Today, I visited my mother who is a resdient at Bloomfield Care Home in Swansea (she is 103 years of age). While I was there, I got chatting to another resident whom I have known for some time. My friend was with me and she asked the lady where she was from and she mentioned that she had lived and worked for many years at the Cottage Homes in Swansea. We were so interested because, as a child, I had visited the homes with my parents. She said that of all the books of historical interest that have been published in Swansea, there has never been a mention of the Cottage Homes. We suggested that she might like to tell us all about them and maybe we could write down what she told us. Ther must be lots of people who would be interested.....
